Watercolor Floral Artist

Welcome
Art isn’t always what you see, sometimes it is what you feel. Watercolor changed the way I saw the beauty in flowers; how each part of the flower shines brightly and tells a unique story. Watercolor is a medium that encourages exploration and creativity to capture the vibrant beauty of flowers.
Hi, my name is Kat. My husband and I live on a 4 1/4 acre farm with 14 chickens (all named of course) a PomChi dog named Idggi Grace and a Dilute Tortoise Shell cat named Paisie, who is 4 times bigger than our dog.
For 12 years I was a wedding, family and landscape photographer while living on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. My husband and I retired in 2022 and moved to the beautiful Upstate part of South Carolina in a little historic town called Cowpens. Our dream was to have a bit of land so we could raise chickens and grow our own vegetables and where I could plant and grow beautiful flower gardens.
I have always been fascinated by flowers. Their colors and fragrance bring such peace and joy, and each bloom evokes emotions and memories for me.
Watercolor is a great medium for painting flowers because it can capture their delicate details and vibrant colors, while also allowing for a loose and expressive style. The fluidity of watercolor makes it easy to create subtle gradations and soft edges, which are often associated with the beauty of flowers when light reflects off them. Additionally, watercolor's transparency and ability to blend colors create a unique and ethereal effect, making it my choice for floral art.
